The ACCUPRO 12182960 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. With a 5/8 inch (0.6250 inch) mill diameter, 7/8 inch (0.8750 inch) length of cut, and 3 inch overall length, this stub-length tool delivers rigidity and reduced deflection in tight setups. The micrograin carbide substrate supports higher cutting speeds and feeds compared to standard carbide grades. The AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in ferrous and hardened material applications. Four spiral flutes with a 40-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this end mill.
This end mill is suited for slot milling, peripheral milling, and plunge cutting operations in ferrous metals, stainless steels, and high-temperature alloys. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without pre-drilling. The stub-length body is well-matched to setups requiring maximum tool rigidity, such as shallow-pocket roughing and finishing passes on rigid CNC machining centers or manual mills. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC spindle rotation.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling addition for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 5/8 inch straight shank with a shank diameter tolerance of -0.0001 / -0.0004 inches.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Secure the shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder, ensuring full engagement depth per the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify spindle speed and feed rate against published cutting data for the target material before starting the cut. Do not exceed the length of cut when engaging workpiece material, as cutting beyond the fluted section risks tool breakage and workpiece damage.
