The ACCUPRO 12182852 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and hardened materials. It features a 5/16 inch diameter with a 0.03 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge and produces a smooth, radiused floor fillet in a single pass. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting at higher feed rates. An AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in dry or semi-dry cutting environments. This is a single-end, centercutting tool, allowing plunge entry directly into the workpiece. Machinists and toolroom technicians install this tool in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
This end mill is suited for use in job shops, production machining, and toolroom applications where controlled corner geometry is required. The stub length classification keeps overhang minimal and maximizes rigidity during slotting, profiling, and pocket milling. The centercutting capability allows ramping and plunge cuts without a pre-drilled hole. The AlTiN coating makes it well-matched for cutting alloy steels, stainless steels, cast iron, and other abrasive materials at elevated temperatures. It is typically run on CNC vertical machining centers and high-speed spindle setups where consistent corner radius control is critical to part tolerance.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-inventory cutting tool for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 5/16 inch straight shank tool holder or collet.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank fully into a collet or end mill holder to the recommended grip depth before torquing the retention system. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cutting pass, as excessive runout accelerates wear and degrades corner radius accuracy. Always verify spindle speed and feed rate against the material being cut before engaging the workpiece.
