The ACCUPRO 12182850 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and hardened materials. It features a 5/16 inch diameter with a 0.015 inch corner radius, a 1/2 inch length of cut, and a 4-flute right-hand spiral geometry with a 40-degree helix angle. The cutting surfaces are finished with an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating, which provides thermal resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting speeds. This end mill is single-end and centercutting, allowing plunge entry and versatile toolpath flexibility. It is sized for use in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where stub-length rigidity is required.
This end mill is suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes in ferrous alloys, stainless steels, hardened steels, and high-temperature alloys where corner radius geometry is specified to reduce stress concentrations at workpiece features. The stub-length configuration keeps the tool stiff and minimizes deflection during aggressive radial cuts. It is commonly installed in collet-style and end mill holders with a matching 5/16 inch shank bore. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals select this geometry for mold work, die cavities, and close-tolerance profiling applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide corner radius end mill for 5/16 inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit tooling systems used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom professional. Secure the shank fully within the tool holder to the recommended gauge line, and torque set screws or collet nuts according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or coating damage before each use, and replace the tool if any edge defects are observed.
