The ACCUPRO 12182829 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal, composite, and hard plastic workpieces. It features a 5/16-inch cutting diameter with a 4-flute, spiral flute geometry and a 40-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. The micrograin carbide substrate provides edge retention in demanding cutting conditions. At 2 inches overall length with a 1/2-inch length of cut, this is a stub-length tool suited for rigid setups where deflection control is critical. It is centercutting, allowing plunge operations in addition to peripheral and slot milling.
This end mill is used in machining centers and manual mills for slotting, profiling, and pocket milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC and manual milling applications. The uncoated finish makes it suitable for aluminum and non-ferrous applications where coating buildup could be a concern, and it can be reground to extend tool life. The stub-length design is particularly effective in setups with tight Z-axis clearance or where chatter from tool overhang must be minimized.
Designed as a standard replacement or production end mill for any milling machine or machining center accepting a 5/16-inch straight shank tool holder, collet, or end mill adapter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's tooling guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked before inserting or removing the tool from the collet or tool holder. Verify the shank is fully seated to the minimum recommended clamping depth before tightening the collet nut. Check tool runout with a dial indicator after installation to confirm it falls within the specified diameter tolerances before beginning a cut.
