The ACCUPRO 12182808 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations requiring a controlled edge radius. It features a 1/4-inch mill diameter, a 3/8-inch length of cut, and a 0.09-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and improves surface finish on milled profiles. The tool carries a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating for increased surface hardness and wear resistance. With 4 right-hand spiral flutes and a centercutting geometry, it handles both plunge and peripheral cuts. Shank diameter is 1/4 inch and overall length is 2 inches. Intended for installation and use by machinists and tooling professionals in CNC and manual milling applications.
This end mill is suited for milling ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a radiused corner profile is required to reduce sharp inside corners, improve part strength, or meet drawing tolerances. The stub-length configuration provides added rigidity, making it appropriate for higher-feed applications and situations where tool deflection must be minimized. TiCN coating extends tool life compared to uncoated carbide in abrasive or hardened materials. Typical applications include die and mold work, aerospace component machining, and general precision part production on vertical machining centers and CNC mills.
Designed as a standard 1/4-inch shank corner radius end mill compatible with ER-style collet chucks, end mill holders, and other 1/4-inch bore toolholding systems used on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before production cuts, as excessive runout will accelerate wear and degrade corner radius accuracy.
