The ACCUPRO 12182499 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features a 5/16-inch diameter, a 0.015-inch corner radius, and four right-hand spiral flutes with a 40-degree helix angle. The TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating improves surface hardness and wear resistance, extending tool life in demanding cutting conditions. This is a single-end, centercutting tool, meaning it can be plunged directly into a workpiece. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and CNC operators use this end mill for profiling, slotting, and finishing passes where a small corner radius is required to reduce stress concentration in machined pockets and contours.
This end mill suits applications in job shops, production machining, and die and mold work where tight tolerances and edge integrity are critical. The micrograin carbide substrate supports rigidity at higher feed rates. The 3/4-inch length of cut and 2-1/2-inch overall length make it appropriate for moderate-depth pocketing and peripheral milling in vertical machining centers and CNC mills. The 5/16-inch shank fits standard ER collet chucks and end mill holders commonly found in those setups.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling option for any CNC vertical machining center or manual mill equipped with a 5/16-inch collet, collet chuck, or end mill holder.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle lock engaged before inserting or removing the end mill. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the recommended gauge line and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cutting program, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and degrades surface finish.
