The ACCUPRO 12182470 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling of ferrous and hardened materials. It features a 1/4 inch mill diameter, a 0.02 inch corner radius, and four flutes ground from micrograin solid carbide stock. The AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extends tool life in high-speed and dry cutting applications. The 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working on vertical machining centers, mills, and similar equipment.
This end mill suits applications where a controlled corner radius is required to reduce stress concentrations at the base of milled features or to match part geometry. The single-end, centercutting design allows both plunge and peripheral cutting. The 3/4 inch length of cut and 2-1/2 inch overall length make it appropriate for shallow-to-medium-depth pockets, slots, and profiles in steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials. The right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting orientation are standard for conventional CNC mill spindle rotation.
Designed as a standard shank end mill for use in any CNC vertical machining center, manual knee mill, or similar equipment accepting a 1/4 inch tool holder, collet, or end mill adapter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or locked-out state before inserting or removing the tool. Seat the 1/4 inch shank fully into the collet or tool holder to the recommended gauge line and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before committing to a production cut, as excessive runout will accelerate edge wear on carbide tooling.
