The ACCUPRO 12182406 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling operations in metal, composite, and engineering plastic applications. Built from micrograin carbide, it delivers the hardness and edge retention needed for demanding cuts. The 11/64 inch (0.1719 inch) cutting diameter pairs with a 40-degree helix angle and four spiral flutes to produce clean chip evacuation and smooth finishes. At 2 inches overall length with a 5/8 inch length of cut, this is a compact, rigid tool suited for tight-tolerance work in shallow to medium-depth features. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this type of end mill.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling. Its centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry into the workpiece without a pilot hole. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the standard for conventional and climb milling on vertical machining centers. The regular-length body makes it a practical choice for general-purpose work where reach is not a constraint. It ships individually and is sold in single-unit quantities.
Designed as a standard single-end square end mill compatible with any spindle or collet chuck system accepting a 3/16 inch shank diameter, including ER collets and precision end mill holders commonly used on CNC vertical machining centers and manual mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's guidelines for tool holding and runout tolerances. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before mounting or removing end mills. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder to the minimum engagement depth recommended for the shank diameter to avoid deflection. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning production cuts, as excessive runout accelerates tool wear and degrades surface finish.
