The ACCUPRO 12182398 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and machining operations. It features a 9/64 inch (0.1406 inch decimal) cutting diameter with a 4-flute, spiral flute geometry and a 40-degree helix angle. The TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating improves surface hardness and heat resistance compared to uncoated carbide. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the toughness and edge retention needed for demanding cut conditions. This end mill is centercutting, allowing plunge cuts in addition to peripheral and slot milling. It is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die tradespeople on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill is suited for regular-length slotting, profiling, and plunge milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a small-diameter, high-precision cutting tool is required. The 9/64 inch diameter makes it appropriate for fine detail work, narrow slots, and close-tolerance contour passes. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional spindle rotation. The 1/2 inch length of cut and 2 inch overall length place this tool in the regular-length category, keeping it rigid for reduced deflection at small diameters.
Designed as a standard straight-shank end mill for use in 3/16 inch collets or end mill holders on CNC machining centers, knee mills, and similar milling machines capable of accepting round-shank tooling.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool builder guidelines for collet torque and tool projection. Confirm the holder or collet is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Always verify spindle speed and feed rate settings match the material and tool diameter before initiating a cut. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing or measuring tooling.
