The ACCUPRO 12182312 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features a 7/16 inch cutting diameter with a 1-1/2 inch length of cut and a 6 inch overall length, classifying it as an extra-long reach tool suited for deep-pocket and extended-reach applications. The three-flute, spiral geometry runs a 40-degree helix angle, which balances chip evacuation with cutting stability. The AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and surface hardness, making it a strong choice for dry or semi-dry machining at elevated speeds. Machinists and tool-and-die shops use this end mill on CNC machining centers and manual mills where reach and rigidity are both required.
This end mill fits production and job-shop environments handling mold work, die cavities, and general profiling where standard-length tools cannot reach. The extra-long OAL of 6 inches allows access to deep features without sacrificing shank rigidity, provided adequate tool support is maintained. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC setups. The centercutting design permits plunge entry, expanding its versatility for ramping and helical interpolation operations.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 7/16 inch straight shank with a shank diameter tolerance of -0.0001 to -0.0004 inches.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or lockout state before loading or removing tooling. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder rated for 7/16 inch shanks and verify runout with a dial indicator before running production cuts. Consult the machine tool manufacturer specifications and applicable shop safety procedures for secure tool holding torque and maximum RPM limits.
