The ACCUPRO 12182308 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal fabrication and machining environments. Built from micrograin carbide with a TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating, it delivers extended tool life and improved wear resistance in ferrous and non-ferrous applications. The 3/8 inch cutting diameter and 1-1/2 inch length of cut pair with a 40-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry to promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. At 6 inches overall length, this is an extra-long configuration suited for deep-reach milling where standard-length tools cannot access the workpiece. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators are the primary users.
This end mill is well suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials where a TiCN finish provides adequate lubricity and heat resistance. The extra-long 6 inch OAL makes it appropriate for cavity work, deep pockets, and fixture-limited setups in job shop and production environments. Its centercutting design allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece without a pre-drilled pilot hole, adding flexibility to its application range.
Designed as a standard 3/8 inch shank square end mill compatible with milling machine spindles, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills accepting ER collets, end mill holders, or similar 3/8 inch straight-shank toolholding systems.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the depth mark or manufacturer minimum engagement spec for the collet or holder in use; insufficient engagement can cause tool pullout under load. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping and before initiating a cut, particularly given the extra-long reach of this tool which amplifies deflection at the tip.
