The ACCUPRO 12182224 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision metal removal in demanding machining applications. This single-end tool features a 1/2-inch cutting diameter, a 2-inch length of cut, and a 4-inch overall length, placing it in the long-length category for extended reach setups. The micrograin carbide substrate paired with a TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) finish provides enhanced hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated carbide, making it well-suited for harder workpiece materials and higher surface-speed applications. A 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. Installation and operation are handled by machinists and CNC operators in shop environments.
This end mill is used in milling operations on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, alloy steels, and similar materials where a square shoulder or slot profile is required. The centercutting geometry allows it to plunge directly into the workpiece as well as cut along the periphery. The long overall length makes it appropriate for deep-pocket milling and extended-reach scenarios where a standard-length tool cannot reach the feature. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration suits conventional milling machine spindles.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide square end mill compatible with standard 1/2-inch collets, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual mills with right-hand spindle rotation.
Installation is performed by machinists using a properly sized collet or end mill holder rated for 1/2-inch shank tooling. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Verify shank runout and holder cleanliness before securing the tool; excessive runout accelerates edge wear. Follow the machine manufacturer and toolholder specifications for drawbar or collet nut torque.
