The ACCUPRO 12182177 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features a 5/16 inch cutting diameter with a 1/2 inch length of cut and a matching 5/16 inch shank diameter, giving it a direct-fit profile in standard toolholders. The 40-degree spiral flute geometry and AlTiN finish support higher cutting speeds and improved heat resistance compared to uncoated tooling. Built from micrograin solid carbide, this stub-length end mill delivers rigidity and edge retention in demanding milling operations. It is a centercutting design, allowing plunge entry. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and CNC operators are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is suited for slot milling, profiling, and plunge cutting in shop and production environments. The stub-length configuration keeps deflection low in tight-clearance setups. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation make it compatible with standard CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. It performs well in steel, stainless, cast iron, and hardened alloys where AlTiN coating provides thermal protection at elevated spindle speeds. Single-piece packaging supports individual replacement or small-quantity restocking without minimum bulk commitments.
Designed as a direct-fit solid carbide square end mill for use in standard 5/16 inch toolholders, collets, and end mill holders on CNC machining centers and conventional milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a safe, locked-out state. Seat the shank fully into the collet or toolholder to the recommended engagement depth before tightening. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use, as carbide end mills are brittle and should not be run if edge damage is visible. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines for speeds and feeds appropriate to the workpiece material and depth of cut.
