The ACCUPRO 12182175 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling operations in metal, composite, and engineering plastics. Built from micrograin carbide, it delivers consistent edge retention and dimensional accuracy across demanding cuts. The 3-flute geometry with a 40-degree helix angle balances chip evacuation with surface finish quality, making it well suited to finishing passes and moderate material removal in harder workpiece materials. At 5/16 inch in diameter with a 1/2 inch length of cut, this is a stub-length tool optimized for rigidity over reach. It is installed and operated by machinists and toolroom technicians working on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill is appropriate for applications requiring tight tolerances and controlled surface finishes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The stub-length configuration reduces deflection in side-milling and slotting operations where a longer reach is not required. The centercutting design allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece without a pre-drilled starting point. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation make it compatible with standard spindle rotation on conventional vertical and horizontal milling machines.
Designed as a standard 5/16 inch shank square end mill compatible with ER and straight-bore collet systems on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills accepting a 5/16 inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and power is locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the collet or tool holder. Achieve full shank engagement in the collet to the recommended minimum depth to prevent pullout under cutting loads. Verify runout with a dial indicator after tool installation before beginning a cut.
