The ACCUPRO 12182053 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal-cutting environments. With a 29/64 inch (0.4531 inch) cutting diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 1/2 inch shank diameter, this tool handles slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action, while the TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating extends tool life in abrasive and high-heat applications. Micrograin carbide substrate provides the rigidity and edge retention that production machinists and tool-and-die shops depend on.
This end mill fits standard R8, CAT, BT, and collet-style toolholders with a 1/2 inch bore. It is suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills in job shop, production, and maintenance machining environments. Typical applications include shoulder milling, contour milling, and full-slot cutting in steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials. The regular-length geometry and 3-inch overall length make it a practical choice for general-purpose work where extended reach is not required.
Designed for use in any 1/2 inch collet or toolholder system on CNC machining centers and knee mills. No specific machine model compatibility was provided by the manufacturer for this part number.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in an e-stop or locked-out state per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the shank fully into the collet or toolholder and torque the retention nut to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use — a damaged edge on a carbide end mill can fracture under load. Proper runout at the cutting tip should be verified with a dial indicator after setup, especially in tight-tolerance work.
