The ACCUPRO 12181958 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features a 1/4 inch diameter, a 3/4 inch length of cut, and a 0.02 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at part edges and extends tool life compared to sharp-cornered end mills. The TiCN coating provides increased surface hardness and lubricity, making it well suited for harder steels and abrasive materials. With three right-hand spiral flutes and a 40-degree helix angle, this tool balances chip evacuation with cutting stability. It is a single-end, centercutting design, meaning it can be plunged directly into workpiece material.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and manual knee mills across job shops, tool-and-die operations, and production machine shops. The 0.02 inch corner radius makes it a common choice when engineers or machinists need to blend a small radius into a pocket floor or shoulder without a separate finishing operation. It is appropriate for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials where TiCN coating provides a performance advantage. Machinists running tight-tolerance work will note the mill diameter tolerance of +0.0000 to -0.0025 inches.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard 1/4 inch shank end mill holders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit holders used in CNC and manual milling machines. No specific OEM model compatibility was stated in the product data.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with cutting tool safety and machine tool operation. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the tool holder and torque the set screw or collet nut according to the tool holder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before taking the first cut, as excessive runout accelerates tool wear and reduces corner radius accuracy.
