The ACCUPRO 12181802 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining environments. Built from micrograin carbide substrate with an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating, this end mill handles hardened steels, stainless alloys, cast iron, and other abrasive materials where heat resistance and edge retention are critical. The 1 inch cutting diameter pairs with a 2 inch length of cut and a 6 inch overall length, placing it in the long-length category. The 40-degree helix spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals select this geometry for deep-pocket milling, slotting, and side-milling operations on vertical machining centers and CNC mills.
This end mill is suited for production and job-shop machining on CNC vertical or horizontal mills where extended reach into deep features is required. The long overall length of 6 inches allows clearance in deep pockets or tall workpiece fixturing without sacrificing rigidity when used at appropriate cutting parameters. The 1 inch shank diameter provides a secure, vibration-resistant grip in standard ER or end mill holders. With centercutting capability, this tool can plunge directly into a workpiece face, eliminating the need for a separate drilling operation to initiate a pocket.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide end mill compatible with standard 1 inch bore end mill holders, collet chucks, and hydraulic holders used on CNC vertical machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before seating or removing tooling from any holder. Clean the shank and holder bore thoroughly before assembly to prevent runout errors; even minor contamination can affect tool life and surface finish. Torque retention knobs and set screws to the holder manufacturer's specifications, and verify runout at the tool tip with a dial indicator before beginning a cut.
