The ACCUPRO 12181797 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal and hard material applications. With a 0.5 inch cutting diameter, 1.5 inch length of cut, and a 40-degree helix angle, this tool delivers aggressive chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The micrograin carbide construction provides rigidity and wear resistance suited to high-speed machining. At 3.5 inches overall length, it falls into the extra-long category, giving machinists extended reach in deep-pocket and stepped-bore operations. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production environments are the primary users.
This end mill is appropriate for milling slots, pockets, profiles, and contours in both conventional and climb milling setups. Its centercutting geometry allows plunge entry directly into material without a pre-drilled hole. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration is standard for most vertical machining centers and manual knee mills. The uncoated finish makes it well suited for aluminum, brass, copper, and softer steels where coating buildup is a concern or re-sharpening is anticipated.
Designed as a standard 0.5 inch shank square end mill compatible with collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders accepting a 0.5 inch shank diameter on vertical machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a locked or e-stopped state. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder to the recommended engagement depth before torquing the retention mechanism. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation to confirm concentricity within acceptable limits. Do not exceed the rated depth of cut or feed rate for the workpiece material and cutting diameter.
