The ACCUPRO 12181685 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from micrograin carbide stock, it carries an AlTiN finish that improves heat resistance and extends tool life at higher cutting speeds. The cutter measures 29/64 inches (0.4531 inches) in diameter with a 5/8 inch length of cut and a 1/2 inch shank diameter. Overall length is 2-1/2 inches, classifying it as a stub-length tool. Two right-hand spiral flutes at a 40-degree helix angle produce efficient chip evacuation and a smooth cut. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral milling. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production environments are the primary installers of this tool.
This end mill is suited for slot milling, profiling, and peripheral finishing passes where a compact, rigid stub-length tool is preferred. The 40-degree helix and micrograin carbide substrate perform well in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials commonly encountered in precision machining. The 1/2 inch shank fits standard ER collet chucks, side-lock holders, and shrink-fit tooling used on vertical machining centers and CNC mills. The stub length-of-cut design reduces deflection and improves rigidity in short-reach applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit solid carbide square end mill for 1/2 inch shank toolholders including ER collet systems, side-lock holders, and shrink-fit chucks on standard CNC vertical machining centers.
Installation is performed by a trained machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or removing the tool in any toolholder. Verify that the shank is fully seated to the specified engagement depth in the collet or holder before torquing to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or wear before each use, as carbide tooling should not be run with damaged edges.
