The ACCUPRO 12181678 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal cutting and machining applications. This stub-length tool features a 7/16 inch (0.4375 inch) mill diameter, a 5/8 inch length of cut, and a 2 inch overall length. The TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating improves surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated carbide. The 40-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry promote efficient chip evacuation. Machined from micrograin carbide stock, this end mill holds tight diameter tolerances and is suited for demanding production environments where tool life and dimensional accuracy are critical.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The stub-length configuration provides added rigidity, making it well suited for applications where tool deflection must be minimized. Its centercutting capability allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional spindle rotation. This tool is typically selected for tight-tolerance work in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials where micrograin carbide and TiCN coating provide a performance advantage.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for CNC machining centers and manual milling machines using 7/16 inch collets or end mill holders with right-hand spindle rotation.
This end mill is installed and serviced by machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in a properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the collet and holder for runout before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and reduces part accuracy.
