The ACCUPRO 12181672 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. It features a 13/32 inch (0.4063 inch) cutting diameter, a 5/8 inch length of cut, and a 7/16 inch shank diameter with an overall length of 2 inches, classifying it as a stub-length tool. The 2-flute configuration with a 40-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation. A TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating adds surface hardness and lubricity, extending tool life in ferrous and nonferrous materials. Micrograin carbide substrate supports tighter tolerances and sharper edges at elevated cutting speeds.
This end mill is suited for slot milling, peripheral milling, and plunge cutting in light to medium-duty CNC and manual milling operations. The centercutting design allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation match standard spindle rotation on vertical machining centers and knee mills. The stub length geometry provides added rigidity in setups where minimal overhang is required, making it a practical choice for shallow-depth-of-cut work in steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and similar materials.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling option for any milling machine or machining center accepting a 7/16 inch shank diameter, including collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit holders sized for 0.4375 inch shanks.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before loading or changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the holder to the recommended grip length and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator after setup before initiating a cut.
