The ACCUPRO 12181588 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide, this end mill features a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) finish that improves surface hardness and extends tool life in abrasive cutting conditions. The 2-flute, spiral flute geometry with a 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. At 0.125 inches in diameter with a 0.25-inch length of cut and 1.5-inch overall length, this is a stub-length tool suited for close-tolerance work in tight clearances. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry into the workpiece. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional CNC and manual milling setups.
This end mill is used in shops performing slot milling, profiling, and light pocket milling on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The micrograin carbide substrate and TiCN coating make it a practical choice for cutting hardened steels, stainless, and cast iron where tool wear is a concern. The stub overall length of 1.5 inches provides rigidity, reducing deflection during demanding cuts. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators working with small-diameter tooling will find this part a direct fit for standard 1/8-inch collets and tool holders.
Designed for use in standard 1/8-inch collets and end mill holders on CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines where 1/8-inch shank tooling is specified.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in an estop or locked-out state per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the shank fully into the collet or tool holder and torque the retention mechanism to the tool holder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use, as micrograin carbide can fracture if run in a damaged state. Speeds and feeds should be dialed in for the specific workpiece material to avoid premature tool failure.
