The ACCUPRO 12181520 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and high-temperature alloy materials. It features a 5/8 inch cutting diameter with a 0.09 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge and extends tool life in demanding applications. The 2-flute geometry with a 40-degree right-hand helix promotes efficient chip evacuation, making it well suited for slotting and profiling passes. An AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and hardness at elevated cutting temperatures. This is a single-end, centercutting tool ground from micrograin carbide stock for dimensional stability and edge retention.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills for creating corner-radiused profiles, pockets, and contoured surfaces. It is a common choice in job shops, aerospace component machining, mold and die work, and general metalworking where a blended radius transition is required at the bottom of a feature. The centercutting design allows plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral and slot milling. Machinists working with hardened steels, stainless alloys, and titanium will find the AlTiN coating particularly effective at maintaining cutting performance without lubricant in dry or near-dry machining strategies.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct tooling selection for CNC machining centers and conventional mills requiring a 5/8 inch shank, 2-flute, corner radius end mill with AlTiN coating.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's tool-holding specifications. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Seat the 5/8 inch shank to the correct engagement depth in the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism per the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout will accelerate edge wear and compromise dimensional accuracy on corner radius features.
