The ACCUPRO 12181507 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. It measures 5/8 inches in diameter with a 0.02 inch corner radius that protects part edges and reduces stress concentrations at inside corners. The 2-flute geometry and 40-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation, making this tool well suited for slotting and profiling in tough materials. A TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating increases surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated carbide. The micrograin carbide substrate supports sharp edges and tight tolerances. This is a single-end, centercutting tool, meaning it can plunge directly into the workpiece.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual mills for finishing and semi-finishing cuts in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and hardened alloys. The TiCN coating is particularly effective in abrasive materials where heat and flank wear are primary concerns. The centercutting design allows direct plunging for pocket milling and contouring work. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Secure the shank in a collet or end mill holder to the full depth of engagement recommended for the holder type, observing the shank diameter tolerance of -0.0001 to -0.0004 inches for proper fit. Verify runout with a dial indicator before committing to a production cut, and select feeds and speeds appropriate for the workpiece material and machine rigidity.
