The ACCUPRO 12181216 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from micrograin carbide stock and coated with TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride), this tool delivers enhanced surface hardness and heat resistance compared to uncoated alternatives. It cuts with a right-hand spiral flute geometry at a 40-degree helix angle, which promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. With a 0.625-inch diameter and 1.25-inch length of cut, it is well-suited to slotting, side milling, and profiling operations. Machinists and toolroom operators select this end mill for both CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where a long-reach, two-flute configuration is required.
This end mill is configured for long-reach applications, with a 4.125-inch reach length and 6-inch overall length. The two-flute design provides larger gullet capacity, making it effective for cutting softer metals, plastics, and composites where chip load and evacuation are primary concerns. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry into the workpiece without a pre-drilled pilot hole. It is suited to production and job-shop environments where consistent dimensional tolerances and finish quality are required on ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials.
Designed as a long-reach OEM-style square end mill for use in standard 5/8-inch collets, end mill holders, or shrink-fit tooling systems on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Seat the 0.625-inch shank fully and evenly in a matched collet or holder to the recommended engagement depth to minimize runout. Verify tool runout with a dial indicator after installation before beginning the cut, as excessive runout will accelerate wear and degrade surface finish.
