The ACCUPRO 12180453 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining environments. It features a 0.5-inch diameter cutting edge with a 0.625-inch length of cut and a 40-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the wear resistance and edge retention required for harder workpiece materials. An AlTiN coating further extends tool life in dry or semi-dry cutting conditions at elevated temperatures. With four spiral flutes and a right-hand cut and flute configuration, this end mill is suited for slotting, peripheral milling, and profiling operations run by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
This end mill fits standard CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines using a 0.5-inch collet or end mill holder. Its centercutting geometry allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece, making it suitable for pocketing operations without a pre-drilled entry point. It is appropriate for use on ferrous alloys, hardened steels, stainless steels, and similar materials where AlTiN coating performance is beneficial. The 2.5-inch overall length suits the majority of standard reach milling applications in job shop and production environments.
Designed as a standard 0.5-inch shank square end mill compatible with 0.5-inch collet chucks and end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's toolholding specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the end mill from the holder. Confirm proper tool projection and runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut. Follow all applicable shop safety procedures and machine guarding requirements during operation.
