The ACCUPRO 12179711 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision metal removal in CNC machining and manual milling applications. It features a 1/4 inch cutting diameter, a 3/8 inch length of cut, and a 3-flute spiral geometry with a 40-degree helix angle. The AlTiN (Aluminum Titanium Nitride) coating improves heat resistance and tool life in ferrous and hardened materials. The centercutting design allows direct plunge entry into workpieces. Built from micrograin solid carbide, this end mill holds tight tolerances and resists deflection in demanding cutting conditions. It is sold as a single unit and suits applications where accuracy and surface finish quality are priorities.
This stub-length end mill is suited for short-reach milling operations where rigidity is critical. It performs well in ferrous metals, stainless steel, titanium, and high-temperature alloys. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration matches the standard spindle rotation on most vertical machining centers and CNC mills. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals typically use this tool for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling where a 1/4 inch tool path is required and axial depth of cut falls within the 3/8 inch length of cut range.
Designed as a standard 1/4 inch shank square end mill compatible with ER collets, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders accepting a 1/4 inch shank diameter on vertical machining centers and CNC mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the end mill. Verify shank runout after clamping using a dial test indicator before beginning any cutting operation. Do not exceed the rated length of cut of 3/8 inch axial engagement; overshooting this depth increases deflection risk and may cause tool breakage.
