The ACCUPRO 12179670 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. It features a 1/4 inch diameter with a 0.02 inch corner radius, providing a controlled edge geometry that reduces stress concentration and extends tool life in demanding cuts. The 3-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 35-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. An AlTiN coating adds heat and wear resistance, making this tool well-suited for hard and abrasive materials. It is a single-end, centercutting design, allowing plunge cuts as well as peripheral milling. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production environments will find this a reliable, ready-to-run tool.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills for slotting, profiling, and contouring operations. The 3/8 inch length of cut and 2 inch overall length make it appropriate for shallow-to-medium depth features in ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The AlTiN coating performs well in dry and semi-dry cutting conditions, particularly in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. The corner radius geometry is commonly specified when a sharp inside corner must be avoided to maintain workpiece integrity or match a design radius callout.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use end mill compatible with standard 1/4 inch end mill holders, ER collet chucks, and shrink-fit tooling systems used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Seat the shank to the recommended grip depth in the collet or holder per the toolholder manufacturer specifications, and torque the collet nut with the appropriate spanner wrench. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production run.
