The ACCUPRO 12179626 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal and alloy workpieces. It features a 3/16 inch cutting diameter and a 0.03 inch corner radius that produces a controlled blend between the floor and wall of a milled slot or pocket, reducing stress concentrations and improving surface finish. The three-flute configuration balances chip evacuation with cutting edge strength, and the ZrN (zirconium nitride) coating extends tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous applications. A 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth cutting action. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals using CNC machining centers or manual knee mills.
This end mill is suited for finish milling, slotting, and contouring operations where a radiused corner is required. The stub length geometry provides rigidity in tight-clearance setups. The centercutting design allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece, eliminating the need for a pre-drilled pilot hole in many operations. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC spindle configurations. Typical applications include mold and die work, aerospace components, and general precision machining of steel, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metals.
Designed as a standard shank end mill compatible with CNC machining centers, manual knee mills, and toolholders accepting a 3/16 inch straight shank, including ER collet chucks and end mill holders of the appropriate bore size.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for toolholder torque and runout specifications. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and locked before loading or unloading the tool. Seat the shank to the recommended minimum engagement depth in the collet or end mill holder to prevent pullout under cutting loads. Verify runout at the tool tip before beginning a production cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling.
