The 0.02 inch corner radius reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge, extending tool life in roughing and finishing passes. Five flutes with a 40-degree right-hand spiral helix provide an efficient chip evacuation path while maintaining a strong cutting edge. Variable index flute spacing helps suppress chatter during aggressive cuts. This is a single-end, centercutting tool, meaning it can plunge directly into a workpiece as well as cut laterally.
