The ACCUPRO 12179383 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 1/4 inch diameter with a 0.02 inch corner radius and 5 flutes in a right-hand spiral configuration. The AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating provides high heat resistance and extended tool life when cutting hardened steels, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys. With a 1-1/4 inch length of cut and 3 inch overall length, this centercutting tool handles both full-depth slotting and peripheral milling. The micrograin carbide substrate and variable index flute spacing reduce chatter and improve surface finish. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use it for producing radiused inside corners without a secondary deburring operation.
This end mill is suited for CNC milling centers and manual knee mills in job shop, production, and tool-and-die environments. The single-end, centercutting design allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece, making it practical for pocketing, contouring, and profiling operations. The 1/4 inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit tooling commonly found in small-to-mid-size machining setups. It is a general-purpose choice for machinists working with ferrous metals, stainless, and exotic alloys where corner edge protection and surface finish consistency matter.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit cutting tool for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 1/4 inch shank diameter via ER collet, end mill holder, or shrink-fit tooling systems.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is seated to the correct gauge length in the holder before tightening. Verify runout with a dial indicator after tool installation to confirm concentricity within acceptable tolerance. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling manufacturer guidelines for speeds, feeds, and depth-of-cut parameters appropriate to the workpiece material.
