The ACCUPRO 12179372 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal cutting applications. It features a 5/8 inch diameter with a 0.025 inch corner radius, 3 flutes in a right-hand spiral configuration, and an AlTiN coating that improves heat resistance and tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. The 2-1/2 inch length of cut and 6 inch overall length make it well suited for moderate-depth slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the hardness and edge retention needed for demanding ferrous and non-ferrous materials. This is a single-end, centercutting tool capable of plunge entry as well as standard milling paths.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual mills across job shops, aerospace component manufacturing, die and mold work, and general precision machining. Its corner radius geometry reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge, extending tool life compared to a sharp-cornered square end mill. The AlTiN coating makes it particularly effective when cutting hardened steels, stainless steels, and high-temperature alloys where heat buildup at the tool tip is a primary concern. It is a standard choice for machinists looking for a reliable solid carbide tool in this diameter and flute count.
Designed as a standard 5/8 inch shank solid carbide corner radius end mill compatible with CNC machining center toolholders and collet systems accepting a 5/8 inch straight shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an E-stop or powered-down state before inserting or removing the tool from the toolholder. Use a torque wrench to tighten collet nuts to the toolholder manufacturer specification and verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing a cut. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and coating type.
