The ACCUPRO 12179355 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter with a 0.02 inch corner radius and three right-hand spiral flutes, producing smooth finishes while reducing chipping at part edges. The micrograin carbide construction provides wear resistance and rigidity suited to demanding machining environments. With a 5/8 inch length of cut and a 2-1/2 inch overall length, this single-end tool is sized for general-purpose profiling and slotting on CNC machining centers and manual mills. It is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry into the workpiece.
This end mill is suited for use in machine shops, tool rooms, and production environments where edge integrity and dimensional accuracy are required. The bright uncoated finish makes it well-suited for aluminum, brass, and other non-ferrous alloys where coating adhesion or built-up edge can be a concern. It is also appropriate for light-duty steel applications where a polished cutting edge is preferred. The 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation during climb and conventional milling operations.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide corner radius end mill for use in standard 1/2 inch end mill holders, ER collet chucks, and milling machine spindles accepting a 1/2 inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for toolholder torque and runout specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in a safe state before changing tooling. Confirm shank seating depth meets the minimum engagement requirement for the holder being used. Inspect the collet or toolholder for wear or debris before securing the end mill to maintain concentricity and prevent premature tool failure.
