The ACCUPRO 12179289 is a single-end ball end mill designed for contouring, profiling, and finishing operations in ferrous and hard-material applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers the rigidity and wear resistance required for high-speed cutting. The nACRo coating reduces friction and extends tool life in demanding materials including hardened steels and cast iron. The 4-flute geometry with a 40-degree right-hand helix promotes efficient chip evacuation while maintaining a stable cut. With a 5/16-inch diameter and 1-5/8-inch length of cut, this mill handles slots, pockets, and contoured surfaces with consistent accuracy.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills used in job shops, toolrooms, and production environments. It is a strong fit for finishing passes on mold cavities, die work, and contoured part features where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical. The right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional and climb milling on vertical and horizontal machining platforms. Machinists working with hardened tool steels, stainless, and similar high-hardness materials will find the nACRo coating and micrograin substrate well matched to those demands.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide ball end mill suitable for use in standard CNC and manual milling machine tool holders accepting a 5/16-inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with end mill toolholding practices. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Use an appropriate collet or end mill holder rated for the 5/16-inch shank diameter and secure to the manufacturer-recommended clamping torque for that holder type. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut to protect both the tool and the workpiece.
