The ACCUPRO 12179081 is a solid carbide square end mill built for demanding material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous machining applications. It features a 0.5-inch cutting diameter, a 1.5-inch length of cut, and a 6-inch overall length, making it suited for deeper reach operations where rigidity and edge retention are critical. The micrograin carbide substrate supports tighter tolerances and higher cutting speeds compared to standard carbide grades. An nACRo coating reduces friction and heat buildup at the cutting edge, extending tool life in high-speed and dry machining conditions. Installed by machinists and CNC operators in job shop and production environments.
This end mill is designed for milling operations requiring a right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration with a 40-degree helix angle. The 4-flute geometry balances chip evacuation with surface finish quality. Centercutting capability allows for plunge entry without pre-drilling. The 0.5-inch shank diameter fits standard ER and side-lock toolholders common to vertical machining centers and CNC mills. Typical applications include slot milling, peripheral milling, and profiling in steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for CNC vertical machining centers and manual mills using 0.5-inch shank toolholders, including ER collet chucks and side-lock holders.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator following shop safety procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured with the appropriate torque for the toolholder type per the toolholder manufacturer guidelines. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation before beginning any cut. Confirm feed rate and spindle speed are appropriate for the workpiece material and coating before engaging the cut.
