The ACCUPRO 12179072 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling operations across a wide range of metalworking and machining applications. It features a 0.5000-inch mill diameter, a 1.0000-inch length of cut, and a 4.0000-inch overall length with a matching 0.5000-inch straight shank. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with an nACRo finish, this end mill delivers excellent wear resistance and heat tolerance in demanding cutting conditions. The 40-degree helix angle and four-flute spiral configuration promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. It is center-cutting capable, enabling direct plunge entry into the workpiece without a pre-drilled hole.
This end mill is suited for precision milling in job shop, production machining, and toolroom environments. It handles slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling on steels, hardened alloys, stainless, and similar ferrous materials where nACRo coatings are commonly specified. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation make it compatible with standard CNC machining centers and manual knee mills using conventional or climb milling passes. Single-end geometry keeps it cost-effective for high-volume operations where tool turnover is frequent.
Designed as a standard-shank replacement or direct-specification solid carbide square end mill for CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and similar machine tools accepting a 1/2-inch straight shank collet or end mill holder.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down or in a safe locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and tighten to the tool-holder manufacturer's specified torque range. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, as excessive runout accelerates wear and can cause premature tool breakage.
