The ACCUPRO 12179018 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It carries a 29/64 inch (0.4531 inch) mill diameter with a 5/8 inch length of cut and a 1/2 inch shank diameter, yielding a 2-1/2 inch overall length. The four-flute, spiral geometry with a 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The nACRo finish provides enhanced wear resistance and heat tolerance, extending tool life in demanding cutting conditions. This end mill is centercutting, allowing plunge entry as well as conventional side milling. It is suited for machinists and tool-and-die professionals running CNC machining centers or manual vertical mills.
This end mill is intended for shop-floor metal removal applications including slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling. The micrograin carbide substrate supports tight tolerances and stable performance in hardened steels, alloy steels, stainless, and cast iron. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC setups. No chipbreaker geometry is present, making it best suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes where surface finish quality is a priority.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for 1/2 inch shank tool holders, collets, and end mill adapters used in CNC machining centers and manual vertical mills requiring a 29/64 inch diameter square end mill.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Always ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in an e-stop or lock-out condition before changing tooling. Seat the 1/2 inch shank fully into a clean, properly torqued collet or tool holder to the manufacturer specification of that holder. Verify runout with a dial indicator before production cutting to confirm the tool is seated correctly.
