The ACCUPRO 12179005 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, alloys, and hardened materials. It features a 17/64 inch (0.2656 inch) cutting diameter, a 1/2 inch length of cut, and a 5/16 inch shank diameter, giving machinists a compact yet capable tool for slotting, profiling, and contouring operations. The nACRo finish provides enhanced lubricity and heat resistance, extending tool life in demanding cutting environments. With 4 spiral flutes and a 40-degree helix angle, this end mill promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. It is single-end, right-hand cut, right-hand flute, and centercutting, allowing plunge entry directly into the workpiece.
This end mill suits CNC machining centers and manual mills in job shop, production, and toolroom environments. The micrograin carbide substrate supports higher surface speeds and feeds compared to standard carbide grades. The 40-degree helix angle makes it well suited for finishing passes and harder material applications where vibration and chatter control are priorities. Its 2 inch overall length keeps deflection low in close-quarter setups. Machinists working in aerospace, mold and die, and general precision machining will find this geometry appropriate for tight-tolerance work where dimensional accuracy is critical.
Designed as a direct-fit cutting tool for standard 5/16 inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and milling adapters on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. No specific OEM system compatibility was stated in the product data.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in an e-stop or lockout state per applicable machine safety procedures. Seat the 5/16 inch shank fully into a clean, burr-free collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the holder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or damage before each use. A licensed machinist or trained CNC operator should verify feed, speed, and depth-of-cut parameters before running production.
