The ACCUPRO 12178986 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Measuring 0.4687 inches in diameter with a 1 inch length of cut and a 3 inch overall length, this tool fits a standard 1/2 inch shank. The nACRo (nano-composite) coating reduces heat buildup and extends tool life in abrasive cutting conditions. Four spiral flutes with a 40-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. Micrograin carbide construction provides the hardness and toughness needed for demanding milling operations. Centercutting geometry allows plunge entry, adding flexibility in toolpath programming.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills in tool rooms, job shops, and production environments. It handles slotting, profiling, and pocketing operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation match standard spindle configurations. Its 40-degree helix makes it well suited for finishing passes where surface quality matters. Machinists and CNC operators working with hard metals at moderate-to-high speeds will find this geometry effective for maintaining tolerances.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide square end mill compatible with standard 1/2 inch collets and end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down or in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the 1/2 inch shank fully in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the tool holder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges and coating before use and confirm runout with a dial indicator when tight tolerances are required.
