The ACCUPRO 12178975 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling of ferrous and non-ferrous materials in CNC machining and manual milling operations. It features a 19/64 inch (0.2969 inch) cutting diameter, a 3/4 inch length of cut, and a 5/16 inch shank diameter with an overall length of 2-1/2 inches. The micrograin carbide substrate and nACRo finish provide elevated hardness and heat resistance, supporting higher speeds and feeds compared to uncoated tooling. A 40-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry promote efficient chip evacuation and reduce cutting forces. This tool is installed and run by machinists and tool-and-die technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations on machining centers and manual knee mills. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry into workpiece material without a pre-drilled hole, adding flexibility in pocket milling and ramping applications. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation follow standard spindle conventions for most vertical and horizontal machining centers. The 4-flute configuration balances chip load capacity with surface finish quality, making it a practical choice for finishing and light roughing passes in steel, stainless, cast iron, and aluminum alloys.
Designed as a standard shank square end mill for use in 5/16 inch ER collets, end mill holders, or milling chucks on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills with right-hand spindle rotation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols. Power down and lock out the spindle before securing or removing the tool from its holder. Ensure the shank is fully seated and properly torqued in the collet or end mill holder per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production run to avoid premature tool wear or part inaccuracy.
