The ACCUPRO 12178967 is a 4-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from micrograin carbide stock, it carries a nACRo (nano-AlCrO) coating that extends tool life in demanding cut conditions including hardened steels and cast iron. The cutter measures 0.1875 inches in diameter with a 0.625-inch length of cut and a 2-inch overall length. The 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry are standard. This tool is sized and specified for CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where a small-diameter, short-reach end mill is required.
This end mill suits production shops, tool rooms, and maintenance machining operations that require a small-diameter finishing or slotting tool. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry, enabling ramping, helical interpolation, and direct plunge operations without a pre-drilled pilot hole. The regular length classification makes it the correct choice for standard-depth slots and pockets where extended reach is not needed. Machinists working in aerospace, mold and die, and general job-shop environments will find the nACRo coating particularly useful when cutting abrasive or higher-hardness workpieces.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill suitable for standard 3/16-inch collets, ER collet chucks, and end mill holders used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the spindle powered off and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Secure the shank fully within the holder to the recommended gauge-line depth, and verify runout with a dial indicator before production cuts. Consult the machine tool and holder manufacturer specifications for appropriate clamping torque on set screws or collet nuts — do not over-torque. Follow shop safety procedures and applicable OSHA machining standards when handling carbide cutting tools.
