The ACCUPRO 12178964 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal, composites, and engineered materials. Built from micrograin carbide stock, this 4-flute tool measures 9/64 inch (0.1406 inch) in diameter with a 1/2 inch length of cut and a 3/16 inch shank. The nACRo finish provides enhanced lubricity and heat resistance at the cutting edge, supporting higher surface speeds and extended tool life compared to uncoated carbide. The 40-degree helix spiral flute geometry improves chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. This end mill is intended for use by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators working in job shop and production environments.
This end mill is suited for slot milling, profiling, and pocket milling in ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. Its centercutting design allows direct plunge entry into the workpiece without a pre-drilled start hole. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration matches standard CNC spindle rotation. The 2 inch overall length is appropriate for shallow-to-moderate reach applications where rigidity is prioritized over extended reach. It is commonly run in vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers as well as manual mills with appropriate speed and feed parameters for the workpiece material.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill suitable for use in standard CNC and manual milling machine collet and end mill holder systems accepting a 3/16 inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the end mill from the holder. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder matched to the 3/16 inch shank diameter and torque the retention system per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator after seating the tool before initiating a cutting cycle.
