The ACCUPRO 12178953 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal and alloy applications. It features a 3/8-inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/2-inch length of cut, and a 6-inch overall length with a matching 3/8-inch shank diameter. The three-flute geometry and 40-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and reduce cutting forces during aggressive passes. The nACRo finish provides enhanced wear resistance and thermal stability, extending tool life in demanding materials. This is a centercutting, right-hand cut, right-hand flute tool manufactured from micrograin carbide for tight tolerances and consistent performance. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a long-reach configuration and high helix angle are required. The spiral flute design with a 40-degree helix is well matched to finishing and semi-finishing passes in steel, stainless, and hardened alloys. The 6-inch overall length provides clearance for deep-pocket or extended-reach setups without requiring an extension holder. It is a single-end tool intended for direct installation in collet chucks, end mill holders, or hydraulic tool holders on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct drop-in for 3/8-inch shank square end mill applications in standard collet chucks, end mill holders, and hydraulic holders used on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in an e-stop or locked-out state. Ensure the shank is clean and free of chips or coolant residue before seating in the holder. Torque the retention mechanism per the tool holder manufacturer specification — do not substitute generic fastener torque values. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut to protect both the tool and the workpiece.
