The ACCUPRO 12178885 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from micrograin carbide stock, it measures 0.3125 inches in diameter with a 0.75-inch length of cut and a 2.5-inch overall length. The 40-degree helix angle and three-flute spiral geometry promote efficient chip evacuation and reduce cutting forces during slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling. An nACRo finish on the flutes extends tool life in abrasive cutting environments. This is a single-end, centercutting tool, meaning it can plunge directly into a workpiece. It is installed and operated by machinists and toolroom technicians on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill is suited for general-purpose milling work in job shops, production machining cells, and toolroom applications. The regular-length configuration handles standard depth-of-cut requirements without the deflection risk associated with extended-reach tools. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation make it compatible with standard spindle rotation on conventional vertical machining centers. It is a practical choice for finishing and light roughing passes on steel, alloy steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar workpiece materials where a three-flute geometry provides a balance between chip load and surface finish.
Designed as a standard shank solid carbide square end mill for use in any machine spindle or toolholder accepting a 0.3125-inch straight shank, including ER collet chucks and end mill holders on CNC and manual vertical mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out before inserting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully into the collet or toolholder to the recommended engagement depth per the holder manufacturer guidelines. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling. Follow the machine tool builder recommendations for speed and feed rates appropriate to the workpiece material and depth of cut.
