The ACCUPRO 12178862 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. Built from micrograin carbide stock and finished with a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating, this tool delivers wear resistance and extended tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 2-flute spiral design with a 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. At 6 inches OAL with a 1-inch length of cut, this is an extra-long configuration suited for deep-reach milling operations where standard-length tools fall short. Centercutting geometry allows plunge entry into the workpiece. This end mill is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers in job shop and production environments.
This end mill fits horizontal and vertical milling machines, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills. The 0.5-inch shank diameter seats in standard ER, DA, or Weldon-style toolholders with a 1/2-inch bore. The extra-long OAL makes it practical for milling deep pockets, slots, and profiles where clearance to the spindle nose is a concern. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional and climb milling on most machine configurations. The TiCN finish is appropriate for use on alloy steels, stainless, cast iron, and hardened materials at moderate cutting parameters.
Designed for use in 1/2-inch bore end mill holders, collet chucks, and Weldon-style toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines requiring an extra-long square end mill with a 0.5-inch diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and power is locked out before seating or removing the tool from the holder. Verify holder bore cleanliness and proper tool stick-out before tightening. Consult the machine manufacturer and tooling supplier documentation for appropriate cutting speeds, feeds, and depth-of-cut parameters for the specific workpiece material.
