The ACCUPRO 12178860 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. It features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter with a 1-1/2 inch length of cut and a 6 inch overall length. The two-flute spiral design with a 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The nACRo finish provides enhanced hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in demanding cutting conditions. This end mill is centercutting, allowing plunge milling as well as conventional peripheral and slot milling. It is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments.
This end mill is suited for milling ferrous and non-ferrous materials in applications requiring tight tolerances and consistent finish quality. The 3/8 inch shank diameter matches the cutting diameter, making it compatible with standard collets, ER chucks, and toolholders used on vertical machining centers, CNC knee mills, and manual milling machines. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the standard orientation for conventional milling setups. The micrograin carbide substrate supports higher surface speeds compared to standard carbide grades.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide square end mill for standard 3/8 inch collets, ER-style chucks, and side-lock toolholders used on vertical and horizontal milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with CNC or manual milling equipment. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or quill is secured before inserting or removing the end mill. Seat the shank to the recommended engagement depth in the toolholder and torque the collet nut or setscrew according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut to avoid premature tool wear or workpiece damage.
