The ACCUPRO 12178858 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal cutting and machining applications. Built from micrograin carbide stock, it delivers the rigidity and edge retention needed for ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The nACRo coating reduces friction and heat buildup at the cutting edge, extending tool life in demanding cutting conditions. With a 40-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry, this end mill promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece. This tool is sold as a single unit and is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators running milling machines, machining centers, or manual knee mills.
This end mill suits general-purpose and finish milling in production and job shop environments. The 1/4 inch diameter and 1-1/2 inch length of cut make it well suited for slotting, profiling, and contouring in tight-tolerance work. The 6 inch overall length provides extended reach for deep-cavity or long-reach milling scenarios where a standard-length tool would not access the feature. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation follow standard milling machine spindle direction for direct compatibility with conventional CNC and manual setups.
Designed for use in 1/4 inch collets, ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and other standard 1/4 inch shank toolholding systems on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Torque collet nuts or set screws according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the first cut, as excessive runout will accelerate edge wear on carbide tooling.
