The ACCUPRO 12178854 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal cutting and machining environments. It features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 4 inch overall length with a matching 1/2 inch shank diameter. The two-flute spiral design incorporates a 40-degree helix angle and an nACRo coating, which improves wear resistance and heat dissipation during high-speed cutting. The micrograin carbide substrate provides rigidity and edge retention across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. This tool is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in job shop, production, or maintenance machining settings.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations on machining centers and manual mills. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry directly into a workpiece without pre-drilling. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the standard for conventional and climb milling on most vertical and horizontal setups. No extended reach geometry is present, making this a compact general-purpose tool for standard-depth applications where the 1 inch length of cut is sufficient.
Designed as a standard-shank solid carbide square end mill compatible with 1/2 inch collets, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders on CNC machining centers, knee mills, and similar equipment accepting a 1/2 inch straight shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer torque and runout specifications for the holder type in use. Verify shank seating depth and runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Confirm spindle direction and programmed feed and speed values are appropriate for the workpiece material before engaging the cut. Never exceed the tool's rated length of cut when side milling without verifying deflection limits.
