The ACCUPRO 12178846 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal and hard material applications. With a 1/2 inch mill diameter and a 1-1/2 inch length of cut, it handles slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in a single-end configuration. The 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. An nACRo coating improves wear resistance and thermal stability at elevated cutting temperatures. The micrograin carbide substrate provides hardness and edge retention. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on CNC mills and manual vertical mills.
This end mill is suited for use in ferrous and non-ferrous machining environments where a right-hand cutting, right-hand flute tool is specified. The 1/2 inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style holders in that bore size. The 3-1/2 inch overall length provides adequate reach for most standard workpiece setups without excessive overhang. Its centercutting geometry allows plunge entry into the workpiece. Typical applications include roughing and finishing passes on steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar alloys in job shop and production environments.
Designed for use in standard 1/2 inch bore end mill holders, ER collet chucks, and Weldon-style holders on CNC vertical machining centers and manual mills requiring a right-hand, single-end square end mill.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with CNC or manual milling equipment. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in a safe state before loading or unloading the tool. Verify holder bore size matches the 1/2 inch shank diameter and that the tool is seated to the correct gauge length with proper set-screw or collet clamping torque per the holder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or coating damage before each use and do not exceed the recommended depth-of-cut or feed rates for the workpiece material.
