The ACCUPRO 12178836 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. It features a 5/8-inch cutting diameter, a 3-inch length of cut, and a 6-inch overall length, making it well suited for deep-reach slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling. The 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. An nACRo finish coating improves wear resistance and thermal stability during high-speed cutting. With a micrograin carbide substrate and spiral flute geometry, this tool delivers consistent performance in ferrous and non-ferrous applications. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines for general-purpose material removal. The centercutting design allows direct plunge entry into workpieces without a pre-drilled hole. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional and climb milling. The 5/8-inch shank diameter fits standard ER collets, end mill holders, and milling chucks. Typical applications include slot milling, contour profiling, and step milling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum alloys.
Designed as a standard 5/8-inch shank square end mill compatible with ER collet chucks, Weldon-style end mill holders, and hydraulic milling chucks on CNC and manual milling machines accepting 5/8-inch shanks.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before securing the end mill. Tighten the collet or set screw to the tool holder specification using calibrated tooling. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut to avoid premature tool wear or workpiece damage.
